[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Kyung-pil] Wando-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Shin Woo-cheol) announced on the 19th that it held a progress report meeting in the county office situation room with about 40 team leaders in charge of indicators from 13 departments to evaluate the progress of major national policy initiatives in preparation for the 2021 Government Joint Evaluation.
Presided over by Deputy Governor Jeong Seok-ho, this report meeting was organized to conduct a mid-term check on the progress of a total of 108 government joint evaluation indicators, including 80 quantitative indicators and 28 qualitative indicators.
In particular, due to difficulties in face-to-face contact caused by COVID-19, the meeting provided time to report on the progress, issues, and countermeasures for each indicator amid many restrictions on events, cultural performances, and education.
Based on this, ways to achieve the goals for each indicator by the end of the year were sought to systematically improve performance.
Additionally, the county plans to set monthly targets to ensure entry into the top 3 within the province this year and will check the progress every month until the end of the evaluation period.
Furthermore, for underperforming indicators, countermeasure report meetings will continue to be held to strengthen indicator management for achieving the goals.
Deputy Governor Jeong Seok-ho stated, “We must maintain positive perceptions and trust in public officials and county administration through quarantine activities to prevent and contain COVID-19,” adding, “Although there are many difficulties in carrying out work due to COVID-19, the joint evaluation is an objective assessment that evaluates our county’s administrative capabilities both internally and externally, so please actively respond to improving performance to enhance the county’s external credibility.”
Meanwhile, last year, Wando-gun’s ranking soared compared to the previous year in the 2019 (2018 performance) Government Joint Evaluation results, winning the Effort Award, and this year, it is focusing all efforts on managing evaluation indicators with the goal of entering the upper ranks.
