[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hyun] Haenam-gun, Jeollanam-do (Myeong Hyun-gwan) announced on the 19th that it will proactively respond to the promotion of the 'Haenam-type New Deal Policy' to overcome the economic downturn after COVID-19.
Governor Myeong Hyun-gwan instructed at the expanded executive meeting on the 18th, "As economic quarantine has emerged as the biggest task after COVID-19, actively discover Haenam-type New Deal projects in line with the government's Korean New Deal policy."
Accordingly, the county plans to thoroughly analyze the government's New Deal policy direction centered on three major projects: building digital infrastructure, fostering non-face-to-face industries, and digitalizing SOC, and devote efforts to discovering Haenam's unique COVID-19 response and Haenam-type New Deal projects.
Haenam-gun is focusing on the public sector leading investment as the final purchaser to overcome the economic recession caused by the spread of COVID-19, and is actively promoting emergency fiscal execution in the consumption and investment sectors that have a practical impact on the residents' economy.
It is promoting rapid execution of about 278.7 billion KRW in the first half of this year and plans to thoroughly manage major projects over 50 million KRW to contribute to revitalizing domestic demand in response to COVID-19.
In particular, along with the local government's New Deal project promotion, the county plans to operate a resident participation research group to collect residents' opinions and allow direct participation in policy discovery, thereby discovering major pending projects of the county with residents' consensus.
Post-COVID-19, the county will include fresh policy proposals from residents that will lead changes and innovations in the second half of the 7th local government term in future development plans.
The county plans to provide a broad forum for discussion through theme contests such as "If I were the governor." Recruitment for the resident participation research group and contests for policy projects, visions, and slogans by field will be open until the 12th of next month.
Residents' proposals will be carefully reviewed during the discovery and promotion process of the Haenam-type New Deal policy and will be developed and promoted as long-term vision projects of the 7th local government term.
Governor Myeong Hyun-gwan stated, "As the government's policy trends are rapidly changing after COVID-19, we plan to select key tasks accordingly," and added, "By proactively responding with the Haenam-type New Deal policy, we will make every effort to quickly revitalize the local economy."
