NC, Hiring Doors Wide Open Despite COVID-19... Recruiting Internship Positions Leading to Employment

[Asia Economy Reporter Jin-gyu Lee] Despite the threat of the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), NCSoft (hereinafter NC), which achieved the highest quarterly performance in the first quarter ever, has started creating jobs for young IT talents.

NC is conducting an open recruitment for internship positions linked to employment on its recruitment site until 2 p.m. on the 21st. This internship covers a total of 18 fields including game development, ▲ service platform development ▲ game artificial intelligence (AI) ▲ data engineering ▲ human resources ▲ public relations, among others. NC's internship program is not simply about experiencing routine tasks and company culture for a short period, but a program where interns are actually assigned to real work as NC employees to gain diverse work experience and knowledge. During the internship period, mentors are assigned, so interns can always seek help from their mentors whenever they have questions or face difficulties in their tasks.

NC has consistently led the creation of jobs for young IT talents by continuously conducting internships and open recruitment for new employees. The average age of NC’s approximately 4,000 employees currently working is about 35 years old, making it a young company. Since 2005, NC has conducted open recruitment for new employees every year without fail, hiring about 50 to 60 new employees annually. The internship program has also been conducted annually in a recruitment-linked format since 2007. Koo Hyun-beom, NC’s Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) and Vice President, said, "We are well aware that job seekers are facing difficulties due to COVID-19," adding, "NC is preparing to communicate recruitment information thoroughly with applicants in fresh and diverse ways to attract outstanding talents." An NC official stated, "It is important for applicants to carefully check the individual announcements for the desired job positions," and added, "The selection methods, application forms, and required documents differ by job, and depending on the position, online coding tests or presentation interviews may be added."

Meanwhile, NC is making various efforts not only to create jobs but also to develop employees’ careers. At NC’s Pangyo R&D Center, there is 'NC University,' which provides high-quality lectures and cultivates leaders and experts. Additionally, NC’s representative event 'NCDP,' which goes beyond simple knowledge sharing to exchange insights and confirm passion for game development, is held annually. Furthermore, the 'NC AI Day,' led by the AI Center and Natural Language Processing (NLP) Center responsible for AI research at NC, is an indispensable event where R&D achievements are shared and future development directions are discussed.
