Preview of the Musical 'Rent'... Showcase at Blue Square on the 1st of Next Month

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Byung-hee] The showcase for the musical 'Rent' will be held on the 1st of next month at 7:30 PM at Blue Square iMarket Hall in Yongsan-gu, Seoul.

'Rent' is a rock musical based on Giacomo Puccini's opera 'La Boh?me.' While La Boh?me depicts the story of young, poor artists in late 19th-century Paris, Rent portrays the dreams, passion, love, friendship, and hope for life of poor artists living together in New York's East Village at the end of the 20th century. Rent received great acclaim during its 1996 Broadway premiere and won awards such as the Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize.

The domestic performance will open after 9 years, starting on the 13th of next month at the D-Cube Arts Center.

The showcase held ahead of the official opening will be conducted in a concert format. All 23 cast members, including Oh Jong-hyuk, Jang Ji-hoo, Ivy, Kim Soo-ha, Jung Won-young, Bae Doo-hoon, Kim Ho-young, and Choi Jae-rim, will perform various songs accompanied by live music from the 'Rent Band.' Additionally, Andy Se?or Jr., the Broadway collaborative director, will share a special session revealing the true story of 'Rent' that we have never known before.

Tickets for the Rent showcase will be sold through Interpark Ticket starting at 2 PM on the 19th. All ticket purchasers will receive a musical 'Rent' lightstick and tattoo stickers as gifts.
