[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) will conduct an online informatization education session for Geumcheon residents on the 22nd from 2 PM to 5 PM.

This online informatization education was prepared as an alternative due to the prolonged suspension of offline informatization education for residents caused by the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The lecture topics are mainly two: ‘How to Use Smartphone Cameras’ and ‘Understanding Smartphone Wireless Technology.’

Participants can learn how to use smartphone cameras to scan QR codes and how to use Zero Pay through this lecture.

Residents who wish to attend can pre-register via the Geumcheon-gu Office integrated reservation site (https://www.geumcheon.go.kr/reserve) or the Geumcheon-gu Resident Informatization Education Call Center (☏2627-1119), and can easily attend by accessing the online broadcast link sent via text message on the day of the lecture. Pre-registration is available until 10 minutes before the lecture starts.

Even if pre-registration was missed, it is possible to attend the lecture live through the AfreecaTV website or smartphone app during the lecture time.

The district has continuously provided free informatization education such as basic computer and smartphone usage for information-disadvantaged groups including seniors aged 55 and over, people with disabilities, and marriage immigrants, but it is currently temporarily suspended to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, “As informatization education for information-disadvantaged groups conducted by the district has been temporarily suspended due to COVID-19, we have prepared online education that can be attended regardless of location,” and added, “We will strive to ensure that residents can equally enjoy informatization benefits by bridging the digital divide.”
