[Asia Economy Reporter Heo Midam] Jeon Jaeguk, the eldest son of former President Jeon Du-hwan, is reportedly still improperly using the company corporate card despite voluntarily paying some of the shares of the company in which he was the major shareholder, sparking controversy. In 2013, Jeon voluntarily paid 51% of the company shares, stating he would pay his father's additional fines.
On the 18th, SBS obtained and analyzed the corporate card usage details of the book distribution company Bookplus, used by Jeon from December 2015 for four years. According to the National Tax Service standards, there were about 600 suspected cases of improper execution, amounting to over 100 million won.
According to the report, Jeon used the corporate card to make payments exceeding 40 million won at overseas online shopping malls and spent 37 million won on pubs and golf courses.
Regarding this, Jeon reportedly told SBS in a phone call that the corporate card usage was subject to an external audit and that he paid taxes on several million won exceeding the limit. He also claimed that due to the nature of the publishing industry, usage on holidays was frequent and that overseas payments were made during business trips.
