Fingerstory Officially Launches 'Qtoon', a Webtoon Platform for Women

Expanding from Male-Oriented Webtoons to Female-Oriented Webtoons

[Asia Economy Reporter Hyungsoo Park] Fingerstory, the operator of the webtoon platform 'Mutoon,' is launching the romance and fantasy specialized webtoon platform ‘QToon’.


Brain Contents announced on the 18th that its subsidiary Fingerstory has officially opened QToon, which provides romance and fantasy webtoons, comics, and novel content.


QToon is a content platform primarily serving webtoons, comics, and novels in genres targeted at female readers. It operates as a community space that has evolved beyond a simple content consumption platform through rich emotions and communication specialized for women. To enable access anytime and anywhere, both PC web and mobile web platforms have been launched simultaneously. There are plans to expand to an application as well. As initial content, about 3,000 works by famous domestic authors will be offered.


Fingerstory plans to rapidly grow QToon based on the know-how and infrastructure from operating the Mutoon service. Among the entire webtoon market, the production ratio of romance (pure love) and drama genres, which can be seen as female-oriented content, is 27.40% and 25.20%, respectively. Considering that action and martial arts genres are produced at levels of 1.23% and 0.22%, the company expects the female-oriented webtoon content market to have significant growth potential.


Ra Hyunseong, CEO of Fingerstory, explained, "Although the Mutoon service market is not large, it targets a niche in the paid webtoon market based on differentiated content and a solid platform," adding, "It has established itself as a stable platform visited daily by more than 50,000 dedicated readers."


He continued, "In the first quarter of this year, we recorded nearly 3 billion KRW in sales, achieving the highest quarterly performance ever," and said, "QToon will also achieve sales surpassing Mutoon by utilizing differentiated strategies such as premium emotional content and communication targeting women."
