Jeonbuk Province, Eastern Region African Swine Fever "Conducting Quarantine Inspections!" Jeonbuk Provincial Animal Hygiene Testing Laboratory

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Gominhyeong] The Jeonbuk Provincial Animal Hygiene Testing Laboratory announced on the 14th that it will conduct an African Swine Fever (ASF) quarantine inspection in May targeting 91 pig farms in the eastern region.

This inspection of pig farms is being conducted to guide and inspect the quarantine status of farms in the eastern region of the province, following the continuous confirmation of African Swine Fever in wild boars in northern Gyeonggi and northern Gangwon.

The target farms are those in the eastern region where wild boars frequently appear and access is easy.

This inspection will be carried out concurrently with farm quarantine education, based on the judgment that quarantine measures must be thoroughly implemented on-site.

Any deficiencies found during this inspection will be immediately corrected on-site to ensure there are no blind spots in quarantine, and farms with deficiencies will be continuously monitored by the Animal Hygiene Testing Laboratory's livestock quarantine officers to ensure compliance with quarantine measures.

The director of the Animal Hygiene Testing Laboratory stated, “If my farm is breached, it causes damage to surrounding farms and results in enormous social costs, so it is a crucial time for farms to maintain vigilant and proactive quarantine practices,” and urged, “Farms should report to quarantine authorities immediately if any suspected symptoms of African Swine Fever are detected.”
