[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] Hong Nam-ki, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance, emphasized on the 13th, "We will accelerate the domestic return (reshoring) of overseas supply chains to establish a stable supply chain for materials, parts, and equipment."
On the same day, Deputy Prime Minister Hong announced this policy direction at the 4th Materials, Parts, and Equipment (SoBuJang) Competitiveness Enhancement Committee held at the Korea Research Institute of Chemical Technology in Daejeon.
Regarding Japan's export restrictions against Korea, he urged, "Please present Japan's position on resolving issues related to the three regulated items and the whitelist by the end of this month."
Deputy Prime Minister Hong also stated, "Although there were concerns and criticisms that the immediate procurement disruption of core materials and parts after the regulatory measures would cause significant damage to our economy, we have overcome this well through emergency responses," adding, "Efforts to establish a stable supply base for SoBuJang on a mid-term basis according to the 5-year plan to enhance SoBuJang competitiveness are also progressing without setbacks."
Meanwhile, the meeting discussed ▲approval of the 3rd cooperation project between demand and supply companies ▲discovery and fostering of 100 materials, parts, and equipment startups ▲plans to promote specialized complexes for materials, parts, and equipment.
