[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Seulgi Kim] On the 13th, Park Yong-jin, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, advised Yoon Mi-hyang (former director of the Justice and Memory Foundation), the elected member of the Democratic Citizens' Party, who is under suspicion of misusing donation funds at the Justice and Memory Foundation (Jeonguiyeondae), saying, "Although there may be feelings of injustice and frustration, it is right to quickly clear up and resolve such issues."

In an interview with CBS Radio's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show' on the same day, Park said, "The longer the controversy drags on, the greater the possibility that the precious values our society has cherished, the efforts of Jeonguiyeondae, and the sincerity of its movement, which are considered the direction to be protected, will be damaged."

He explained, "If accounting transparency is compromised, it can shake the sincerity of the movement. At every corner of our society, the public's standards and common sense do not tolerate any lack of transparency in accounting. Therefore, not only companies but also civic groups, and even neighborhood early morning soccer clubs, have their treasurers and presidents take full responsibility and clearly document everything for verification."

Park pointed out, "Jeonguiyeondae should not feel wronged by saying things like 'Why are they treating us this way? What kind of frame is this?' However, it does not seem to be a situation where the responsibility of the elected member Yoon should be questioned at this time."

He added, "(The conservative opposition) is trying to defend this issue by framing Jeonguiyeondae or the people supporting and expecting from Jeonguiyeondae as pro-Japanese, or by using party or ideological frames such as progressive versus conservative."

He continued, "If necessary, instead of saying 'Open all your (accounting) records,' if there is any evidence, immediately report it to the prosecution. That is the role of responsible parties and politicians. What good does it do to just talk recklessly without accurate grounds or evidence?"
