Gwangju Nam-gu, Inspection of Employment Agency Business Activities

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (District Mayor Kim Byeong-nae) is conducting guidance and inspections targeting local employment agencies to prevent damages to job seekers and employers caused by illegal and unfair practices, and to ensure job stability and establish employment order for workers.

According to Nam-gu on the 13th, there are a total of 40 employment agencies in the district, including 36 paid employment agencies and 4 free employment agencies.

Nam-gu is minimizing the number of inspections in the first half of the year to prevent the spread of COVID-19, conducting inspections on 11 employment agencies, and plans to carry out inspections on the remaining agencies in the second half of the year.

The main inspection items include whether employment business is conducted without registration with the district office, whether there is mediation of prostitution, false job advertisements, or excessive charging of introduction fees.

Additionally, violations such as receiving advance payments, prohibition of concurrent business, and failure to report changes or closures are also being examined.

For minor violations found during inspections, immediate correction will be requested, and for serious illegal acts, measures such as fines will be imposed according to relevant laws, followed by additional inspections.

A Nam-gu official stated, “We are conducting thorough guidance and inspections to ensure that job seekers who are struggling day by day do not suffer damages,” and added, “We will do our best to establish a proper employment order by eradicating illegal activities.”
