[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Min-young] Korea Citibank announced on the 13th that it is expanding its online asset management seminars.
To prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), offline seminars are being converted to online formats. Citibank explained that due to the social distancing campaign caused by COVID-19 making offline gatherings difficult, it officially introduced online customer seminars called Virtual Customer Seminars starting last month and has already held the third session. Each time, about 100 customers have connected to attend the seminars, showing strong customer interest.
The seminars are regularly held every Tuesday on various topics such as foreign exchange, global market outlook, and portfolio strategies. Additionally, the seminars are conducted through Citibank’s proprietary application called Citi Meeting Service, allowing customers to conveniently participate from anywhere using tablets, PCs, laptops, or smartphones. The seminar duration is approximately 20 minutes.
Until last year, Citibank held large-scale offline seminars in the form of asset management roadshows twice a year, in January and July.
A Citibank official stated, “Not only online seminars but also differentiated asset management such as team-based asset management with portfolio counselors and foreign exchange experts stationed at large Wealth Management (WM) centers have been recognized by customers. Despite experiencing extreme volatility in the global financial market due to COVID-19 this year, the number of top-tier customers has increased by about 4.6% since the beginning of the year as of the end of last month.”
