[Asia Economy Reporter Yu Je-hoon] HMM, Korea's largest shipping company, has formed a strategic partnership with Kakao Enterprise, a leading domestic IT platform company, to collaborate on artificial intelligence (AI) and big data joint research.
HMM and Kakao Enterprise held a strategic partnership (MOU) signing ceremony this morning at the Kakao headquarters in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province. The event was attended by HMM CEO Bae Jae-hoon and Kakao Enterprise CEO Baek Sang-yeop, among others.
Through this MOU, the two companies will jointly promote ▲ the establishment of a smart workplace ▲ AI and big data joint research ▲ cooperation in developing new growth engines. Accordingly, HMM will apply solutions such as 'Kakao Work' and 'Kakao i Connect,' enterprise smart work solutions scheduled for release within the year by Kakao Enterprise, to expand customer contact services targeting Kakao customers.
Furthermore, based on Kakao Enterprise's AI and big data technological capabilities, HMM plans to execute a long-term plan to establish a 'data-driven sales and operation strategy' through securing and analyzing shipping and logistics industry data.
CEO Bae stated, "We are actively pursuing the integration of advanced IT technologies such as the digitalization of logistics information in various ways," adding, "Through digital innovation, we will comprehensively improve the corporate structure and actively strengthen customer service by providing proactive international shipping and logistics services."
CEO Baek also said, "By combining Kakao Enterprise's IT technology with HMM's global network, we will create new growth engines," and added, "We will fully support the digital transformation and advancement of the shipping and logistics industry."
