[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] Industrial monitor manufacturer Tobis announced on the 11th that its subsidiary Nanots has developed a monitor applying non-contact Air Touch technology in collaboration with Japan's SoftBank, and delivered the first batch of samples.
The Air Touch technology jointly developed by Nanots and SoftBank is a non-contact method that issues commands through hand movements, allowing functions to be operated by finger gestures without touching the screen at a distance of up to 30cm from the display.
Nanots plans to advance the Air Touch technology to create a new display network based on non-contact Air Touch and develop application contents, aiming for future applications in various industrial fields such as automotive, gaming, medical devices, and control systems.
Additionally, Nanots intends to secure the domestic market and promote entry into the global non-contact display market. Jo Hoyun, CEO of Nanots, said, "We have successfully completed the first phase of technology development with SoftBank, gaining recognition for our technological capabilities," and added, "We will strive to continue growing as a competitive company in the touch panel industry." He further noted, "With the recent increase in consumer interest in non-contact products due to COVID-19, the market size is expected to expand going forward."
Tobis, established in 1998, is a company that produces transistor liquid crystal display (TFT-LCD) modules used in casinos, industrial monitors, and mobile phones, as well as automotive displays. Its subsidiary Nanots, founded in 2007, is a touch panel specialist company with sales of 17.1 billion KRW last year.
