[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Seul-gi] Child actor Jeon Jin-seo (14) has apologized for past social network service (SNS) profanity controversy.
On the 11th, Jeon Jin-seo's agency T1 Entertainment stated, "We sincerely apologize for causing discomfort due to inappropriate language used by Jeon Jin-seo on his personal SNS in the past, including drawings and conversations with friends."
Previously, Jeon Jin-seo posted a photo on his Facebook of a cartoon character showing the middle finger saying, "All women are XXXX." Additionally, he posted high-level profanity in comments exchanged with friends, which sparked controversy.
The agency explained, "After Jeon Jin-seo was prohibited from dating by his guardian upon entering middle school last year, he posted drawings that were used among peers to express phrases like 'has a girlfriend' or 'not dating.' The controversial photo was simply shared after receiving it from friends where it was popular."
They added, "We earnestly ask that the immaturity of this young actor who has just turned 15 not be reinterpreted with malicious intent," and apologized to the production team of The World of the Married for causing trouble.
Below is the full official statement from T1 Entertainment
Hello.
This is T1 Entertainment.
First, we sincerely thank you for the interest and support given to Jeon Jin-seo, who is currently appearing in The World of the Married.
Recently, due to inappropriate language used by Jeon Jin-seo in drawings posted on his personal SNS and conversations with friends in the past,
we sincerely apologize for causing discomfort.
The post in question was made after Jeon Jin-seo entered middle school last year and was prohibited from dating by his guardian. At that time, he posted drawings that were used among peers to express phrases like 'has a girlfriend' or 'not dating.'
We inform you that the controversial photo was simply shared after receiving it from friends where it was popular, and he was completely unaware of the symbolism or implied meaning of the photo.
Although there was no malicious intent, the actor himself deeply reflects on causing discomfort to many people due to his careless behavior.
Also, under sufficient guidance from his guardian and the agency, the account has been deleted.
We recognize the agency’s shortcomings in not providing enough guidance to a young actor who is still growing and whose values are not yet established,
and we will work with the guardian to establish proper standards regarding the child’s words and behavior and provide guidance.
We will be careful to prevent such incidents from recurring in the future.
We earnestly ask that the immaturity of this young actor who has just turned 15 not be reinterpreted with malicious intent.
Lastly, we apologize to the production team of The World of the Married for causing trouble.
Once again, we thank you for the interest and support shown to Jeon Jin-seo, and we will repay you by growing with good acting and proper conduct.
Thank you.
