[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Hyesoo] Actor Kim Minkyo has issued an official apology regarding the incident in which his pet dogs attacked an elderly man in his 80s living nearby.
Previously, a media outlet reported that two large dogs owned by actor Kim Minkyo attacked an elderly man in his 80s who lives nearby, and the victim reportedly sustained serious injuries to his thighs and both arms. However, the victim's condition has since improved, and he has been transferred to a general ward.
In response, Kim Minkyo acknowledged that the dogs that attacked the neighbor belong to him and posted an apology statement.
First, Kim Minkyo opened by saying, "Hello, this is Kim Minkyo. I apologize for causing concern due to my personal matters," and began the apology by stating, "On the 4th, my pet dogs caused harm to an elderly neighbor grandmother."
He continued, "At the time, while I was out filming, the dogs inside the doghouse fence saw a roe deer and jumped over the fence. Since they went out from inside the fence, they were without muzzles and leashes, so my wife was immediately concerned and thought she had to find the dogs quickly. During that time, the dogs bit the grandmother who was in the field, and an accident that should never have happened occurred," explaining the circumstances of the incident.
He added, "Upon learning this, my wife immediately accompanied the grandmother to the emergency room, and after my filming ended and I heard the news, I also went to the emergency room to meet the family. Despite feeling very sorry, the grandmother's family, who have always cared for us, were instead worried about us, which made me feel even more apologetic. The grandmother is currently receiving inpatient treatment for her wounds at the hospital, and nonetheless, I believe it is my responsibility as the dog owner," he said.
He also stated, "To prevent such an accident from happening again, we are currently consulting with experts regarding future education, foster care, or any other necessary measures for the dogs involved in the incident," outlining his future plans.
Finally, he concluded the apology with, "I will take responsibility and stay with the grandmother until her treatment is fully completed. Going forward, as a dog owner, I will be more thorough in educating and managing my pets to prevent such accidents. I deeply regret and apologize for the series of incidents. I am also sorry for not expressing my position sooner. Sincerely, Kim Minkyo."
Meanwhile, Kim Minkyo is currently appearing in TV Chosun's sitcom 'Eojjeoda Gajok' (Accidental Family).
