[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyo-jin] The Financial Services Commission and the Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 6th that they are recruiting 40 first-year students for the fall semester of the Digital Finance MBA program at the Graduate School of Finance, which will open in September this year.
The Digital Finance MBA is a part-time master's degree program held at the International Finance Center (One IFC) in Yeouido, Seoul. Students must complete 42 credits over four semesters.
The Digital Finance MBA is a degree program jointly established by the Financial Services Commission, Seoul Metropolitan Government, and the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) College of Business, designed to cultivate experts in the convergence of finance and information and communication technology (IT) to lead innovation in the financial industry. The program is operated by KAIST College of Business.
The Yeouido Graduate School of Finance has built a faculty team consisting of professors from KAIST College of Business, AI Graduate School, and the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering?who excel in IT technology, finance, and artificial intelligence (AI)?as well as practical experts from the financial industry and fintech (financial technology) sectors to provide convergent education that simultaneously cultivates IT skills and financial knowledge.
The curriculum focuses on simultaneously developing theoretical and practical expertise centered on three specialized concentration areas: ▲mathematical and quantitative foundational education ▲AI and data science ▲fintech startups, financial investment, and asset management.
Fintech prospective entrepreneurs admitted to the Digital Finance MBA program can receive various supports such as startup space, mentoring, legal and accounting advice through the KAIST Startup Support Center located at the KAIST Seoul Campus in Hongneung.
During the semester, the Yeouido Graduate School of Finance plans to operate overseas exchange and training programs to cultivate global financial experts. Students can participate in overseas training at prestigious universities in North America and Asia such as Stanford University and Cornell University in the U.S., and Tsinghua University in China, and can also earn dual degrees at institutions like Michigan State University in the U.S.
Applicants can include employees of financial companies and fintech-related institutions (with preference given to those with more than two years of experience), fintech entrepreneurs and prospective entrepreneurs, and job seekers preparing for employment in the financial sector. Applications will be accepted online only through the KAIST admissions system from the 15th to the 25th of this month. Final successful candidates will be selected next month after document screening and interviews.
The tuition fee borne by students is about half the amount of tuition fees for MBA programs at other graduate schools. Classes are held three days a week and are divided into two weekday evenings and one Saturday session to allow students to balance their studies with work.
