[Asia Economy Reporter Han Seung-gon] Former Ministry of Justice Human Rights Bureau Chief Hwang Hee-seok criticized the prosecution by sharing a post claiming that "the reason the prosecution ××s are spreading media manipulation (media play) about their involvement in the Icheon fire is an attempt to expand the scope of direct investigation." Choi Kang-wook, a newly elected member of the Open Democratic Party, also criticized the prosecution investigating the Icheon logistics warehouse fire in Gyeonggi Province.

On the 30th, Hwang shared a Twitter post that harshly criticized the prosecution on his Facebook, stating, "Everyone is trying to get involved and shift attention elsewhere, but there probably aren't many people who will be fooled by that." He added, "Now all citizens are wisely keeping their eyes wide open, so their true intentions are fully read and their operations are not properly executed."

He also mentioned "the investigation into the fraud and concealment attempts by the prosecutor general's mother-in-law and wife," emphasizing, "One thing that the current political prosecution has made the entire nation realize is the necessity of prosecutorial reform."

On the same day, Choi also shared an article related to "Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-youl's command of the Icheon fire investigation" on his Facebook, claiming, "The prosecution's ulterior motives and the media playing along with them."

Meanwhile, the prosecution formed an investigation headquarters on the same day to respond to the Icheon logistics warehouse fire incident in Gyeonggi Province. On the 29th at around 1:32 p.m., a fire broke out at a logistics warehouse construction site in Moga-myeon, Icheon City, resulting in at least 38 deaths and 10 injuries.
