Jung-gu Signs Business Agreement to Protect Socially Vulnerable Groups Including Women

Junggu, Jungbu Police Station, and 13 Related Local Agencies Launch Project to Protect Women and Socially Vulnerable Groups and Establish Social Safety Net

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Jung-gu District Office (Mayor Seoyangho) signed a business agreement on the 29th in the mayor’s office on the 3rd floor of Jung-gu District Office to build a safe local community for socially vulnerable groups such as women.

This agreement, involving 14 related organizations in the region including Jung-gu District Office and Seoul Jungbu Police Station, was conducted online as a non-face-to-face method as part of social distancing measures.

The heads of participating organizations agreed on the necessity of mutual cooperation among related organizations to ensure the safety and support of socially vulnerable groups.

The agreement includes ▲ initial response and case handling upon damage reports from socially vulnerable groups such as women ▲ collecting new anxiety factors and proposing policies for women, disabled persons, and foreigners ▲ counseling and medical support for victims of sexual and domestic violence ▲ joint inspections for illegal filming equipment installation in public restrooms and lodging facilities ▲ joint meetings and promotional activities.

Jung-gu is conducting joint inspections for illegal filming in restrooms and lodging facilities in cooperation with local police stations, replacing steel 112 emergency call location signs with LED signs to improve nighttime visibility, and implementing various projects for socially vulnerable groups such as women.

Recently, an unmanned women’s safety parcel box was newly installed at Dasan-dong Public Parking Lot, and support for security facilities targeting single-women households is being promoted through the Jung-gu Gender Equality Fund support project contest.

Seoyangho, Mayor of Jung-gu, said, “Thank you for participating in this agreement to protect socially vulnerable groups such as women. We will continue to join forces with related organizations in the local community to create a safe Jung-gu where everyone can live with peace of mind.”

The 14 organizations participating in this agreement are Jung-gu District Office, Jungbu Police Station, Dongguk University, Soongui Women’s University, Kumho Girls’ Middle School, Seongdong Global Management High School, Paranmum Disabled Daycare Center, Sindang Dream Regional Children’s Center, Yangsil Family Counseling Center, Namu Women’s Human Rights Counseling Center, Seoul Migrant Women Counseling Center, Seoul Jungbu Sunflower Center, Jung-gu Pharmaceutical Association, and Jung-gu Public Senior Care Center.
