SK Telecom Starts iPhone SE Pre-orders Today... Launches Two Exclusive Insurance Plans


[Asia Economy Reporter Seulgina Jo] SK Telecom will conduct pre-orders for the 2nd generation ‘iPhone SE’ from April 29 to May 5.


According to SK Telecom, pre-orders can be made at nationwide SK Telecom official dealerships, the official online mall ‘T Direct Shop (shop.tworld.co.kr)’, and the online shopping mall ‘11st’, with the official launch scheduled for May 6.


The iPhone SE will be released in three models: 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB. Available colors include Black, White, and Product Red (PRODUCT RED). It features the fastest chip ever in a smartphone, the ‘A13 Bionic’ processor, a 4.7-inch Retina HD display, and an upgraded single camera system capable of ‘Portrait Mode’ photography.


SK Telecom has prepared up to KRW 722,000 in discounts over two years and exclusive insurance for customers who pre-order the iPhone SE.


By using SK Telecom’s partnered credit cards, ‘Woori New SKT Card’ and ‘Lotte Telo Card SE’, customers can receive up to KRW 722,000 in discounts on device installment payments and communication fees over two years. There are a total of three partner cards eligible for iPhone SE discounts, and card discount benefits can be combined twice?once for device installment and once for fee discounts.


The ‘Woori New SKT Card’ offers a KRW 312,000 discount on installments over two years if the monthly spending exceeds KRW 300,000, and a total discount of KRW 362,000 including a KRW 50,000 cashback for first-time card issuers. The ‘Shinhan Pineapple Card’ also provides a KRW 360,000 discount over two years if monthly spending exceeds KRW 300,000. The ‘Lotte Telo Card SE’ offers up to KRW 360,000 discount if communication fees are auto-debited and monthly spending exceeds KRW 400,000 over two years.


Additionally, SK Telecom, in partnership with Apple, introduced exclusive insurance products ‘T iPhone Damage 5’ and ‘T iPhone Care 7’.


‘T iPhone Damage 5’ offers coverage for up to 3 years with protection for 3 damage incidents, while ‘T iPhone Care 7’ covers up to 3 years with 3 damage incidents and 1 loss incident. Both ‘T iPhone Damage 5’ and ‘T iPhone Care 7’ provide compensation with a deductible of KRW 40,000 per screen damage and KRW 120,000 per other damage, similar to AppleCare+.


‘T iPhone Damage 5 (Damage Type)’ offers a promotional discount until June 30, providing coverage for 3 damage incidents during the payment period (up to 36 months) at KRW 4,900 per month. From July, the monthly fee will be KRW 5,100.


If concerned about loss, customers can use ‘T iPhone Care 7 (Loss & Damage Type)’. Signing up by June 30 allows coverage for 1 loss incident (with a KRW 180,000 deductible) and 3 damage incidents during the payment period (up to 36 months) at a promotional price of KRW 7,110 per month. After the promotion ends, the monthly fee will be KRW 7,900.


Along with this, SK Telecom is running various promotions such as offering item coupons for the new mobile game ‘KartRider Rush+’ on a first-come, first-served basis (20,000 people) to customers purchasing the iPhone SE from the official online mall ‘T Direct Shop’. Customers who purchase the iPhone SE from T Direct Shop or nationwide stores and are not subscribed to iCloud will receive 50GB of iCloud storage free for 3 months. After 3 months, the service is available for KRW 1,100 per month.


Also, all customers who purchase the iPhone SE from T Direct Shop can choose one gift from ▲Apple genuine silicone case ▲Greedy Farmers AirPods leather case-strap set ▲AirPods KRW 30,000 discount coupon. Events offering prizes such as ▲Balenciaga phone holder ▲Louis Vuitton wireless earphones ▲Bottega Veneta AirPods case ▲Chanel lipstick will also be held through a lottery.


Furthermore, ‘0 (Young) Handong’, popular among the 10-20 age group, will hold a lottery promotion for a ‘limited edition iPhone SE case’ in collaboration with famous artists. This promotion is scheduled to start on May 16 for SK Telecom customers aged 14-29.


Moon Gap-in, Head of the Smart Device Division, stated, “We have prepared differentiated services exclusive to SK Telecom for iPhone users,” and added, “We will continue to develop customized programs going forward.”
