Support packages containing fruits, vegetables, and dried seafood provided to 1,000 low-income households through corporate sponsorship... 면마스크 and hand sanitizers made by Dongjak Village Network delivered to homes of families with disabilities
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Dongjak-gu (Mayor Lee Chang-woo) is launching a support program to provide love packages to vulnerable families and low-income groups in the area who are struggling due to COVID-19.
This support initiative was promoted to help the livelihoods of low-income groups facing life crises due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting local economic downturn.
First, on the 27th, the district produced gift packages containing fruits such as apples, oranges, and Korean melons purchased from Seongdae Traditional Market and Namseong Four Seasons Market, as well as dried seafood like small anchovies, seasoned shredded squid, and seaweed, through sponsorship from local companies at the Dongjak-gu Volunteer Center.
The recipients are 1,000 households in the lower-income bracket within the district, and the packages will be distributed through each neighborhood community center and the Dongjak Welfare Foundation.
Until the end of this month, welfare planners and volunteers from the neighborhood community centers plan to visit homes and deliver the packages directly to the recipients.
Additionally, in March, three Dongjak village networks?Dongguri Village Net, Maeumkkeot Dongjak Village, and Dongjak-gu Village Autonomy Center?donated filter-replacement cotton masks and portable hand sanitizers they produced themselves to the Dongjak-gu Disabled Family Support Center to assist families with disabilities in the district.
Residents who wish to apply can contact the Dongjak-gu Disabled Family Support Center (☎835-7780) for guidance. In accordance with social distancing measures, a non-face-to-face delivery method is used, where items are left at the front door after prior contact.
Furthermore, the district is striving to alleviate the anxiety of vulnerable groups through the operation of the neighborhood-level quarantine task force’s visiting team.
The visiting team, expanding the activities of visiting nurses, conducts monitoring of symptomatic individuals, manages infection-vulnerable groups, and provides resident consultations. The quarantine support team, composed of social welfare facility staff, directly visits low-income groups, elderly living alone, and people with disabilities to support disinfection efforts.
Yoo Won-sik, Director of the Welfare Policy Division, stated, “We are conducting customized care visits by age and class to overcome the COVID-19 crisis and are doing our best to protect vulnerable groups in welfare blind spots. We ask for the active participation of residents in the social distancing measures extended until May 5.”
