"Safe and Convenient" Drive-Thru Operation at Songnisan (Cheongju) Rest Area

"Safe and Convenient" Drive-Thru Operation at Songnisan (Cheongju) Rest Area

Kidari Food (CEO Myungsoo Lee), which operates the Sokrisan (Cheongju) Rest Area under the jurisdiction of Korea Expressway Corporation Boeun Branch, has been operating a 'Drive-Thru' service since Thursday, April 23, actively implementing the government's social distancing policy due to the spread of COVID-19 and minimizing contact with customers.

As the first case of a 'Drive-Thru' at a highway rest area reflecting the recent non-face-to-face consumption culture, it is considered a model case for customer safety and revitalization of rest area operations.

The 'Drive-Thru' store at Sokrisan (Cheongju) Rest Area is implemented as a drive-purchase method to prevent COVID-19 infection, with hand sanitizers provided in the store and sellers strictly following hygiene and quarantine measures by wearing sanitary gloves and masks.

The Korea Expressway Corporation Boeun Branch supported the activation of the Drive-Thru by providing traffic cones and safety equipment to ensure the safety of the Sokrisan (Cheongju) Rest Area Drive-Thru.

Officials from the Boeun Branch and the rest area stated, “At Sokrisan (Cheongju) Rest Area, we are actively implementing the government's COVID-19 response guidelines and have opened a store through the Drive-Thru, reflecting the non-face-to-face consumption culture that is gaining attention as a new trend. We will strive to provide food and entertainment in a safer way from the customers’ perspective and become a rest area that actively reflects trends.”
