Simultaneous Users Double in Thailand and Singapore
[Asia Economy Reporter Jin-gyu Lee] Webzen announced on the 24th that it is relaunching the PC massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) 'MU Online' in the Southeast Asian market and accelerating its global market expansion.
Webzen recently signed a partnership with Asiasoft and reintroduced MU Online after 15 years in five Southeast Asian countries (Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines) through the game platform 'PlayPark.' Within three weeks of the official Southeast Asian service launch, the number of concurrent users more than doubled, and the day before, a fourth server was opened to smoothly accommodate the increased number of members. Previously, MU Online was launched in the Southeast Asian market starting with the Philippines in 2005.
Webzen and Asiasoft plan to continuously expand servers to ensure smooth gameplay for users. Additionally, updates adding various new content are scheduled. Besides MU Online, Webzen plans to expand its global market entry by signing partnerships with major publishers worldwide based on its diverse PC games and intellectual property (IP).
