Guro-gu 'Green Parking IoT Shared Parking Lot' Development

Installation of IoT Sensors on Floors... Real-Time Checking and Use of Vacant Spaces via App... Up to 9 Million KRW Support for Creating One Floor... Owners Receive Part of Operating Revenue

Guro-gu 'Green Parking IoT Shared Parking Lot' Development

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Guro-gu (Mayor Lee Seong) is creating a ‘Green Parking IoT Shared Parking Lot’ to alleviate parking difficulties in residential areas.

The ‘Green Parking IoT Shared Parking Lot’ project involves creating parking spaces equipped with IoT sensors in areas secured by removing fences and gates of houses and other buildings.

Residents can check and use available parking spaces in real-time through a shared parking app during times when the parking lot is not in use by the resident.

Revenue from sharing is divided between the parking lot owner and the IoT operating company.

Guro-gu supports 9 million KRW per parking space created. For each additional space, 1.5 million KRW is provided, up to a maximum of 28 million KRW. Installation costs for IoT sensors are supported up to 300,000 KRW per unit.

The installation targets include detached houses, multi-family and multi-unit houses, row houses, and neighborhood living facilities where parking lots can be shared with nearby residents at night by removing fences (gates) to create extra parking space.

In addition, Guro-gu is promoting various projects to improve the parking environment.

When school, library, religious facility, or apartment affiliated parking lots are opened to nearby residents, up to 25 million KRW is supported for parking facility improvement costs. Instead of facility improvement costs, parking lot operating revenue can be chosen. Parking lots must have at least 5 spaces and be open for 2 years.

A project to create parking lots on leftover land is also underway. When leftover land on national/public or private property is provided as parking lots to residents, various incentives are offered. With a condition of opening for more than one year, up to 2.4 million KRW per space is supported for facility installation costs, and one of operating revenue payment or property tax exemption benefits is provided.

A Guro-gu official stated, “In urban areas where parking spaces are limited, activating shared parking lots can be an alternative,” and added, “We will continue to make efforts to solve parking problems.”
