Professor Lee Kyuhwan
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province has selected Professor Lee Gyu-hwan of Bundang Seoul National University Hospital, employee Jeong Hwan-seok of Ganaan Work Welfare Center, and Chairman Choi Man-seok of Namyangju Association of the Physically Disabled as the recipients of the 19th 'Excellent Disabled Person Award' in celebration of Disabled Persons Day (20th).
The Excellent Disabled Person Award was established by Gyeonggi Province in 2001 to encourage disabled individuals who have overcome disabilities to achieve independence and demonstrate exemplary social activities.
Professor Lee Gyu-hwan became disabled due to an unexpected accident but became a doctor through relentless effort and has been working as a dental clinic professor at Bundang Seoul National University Hospital since 2005.
Professor Lee has continued educational and lecture activities at disabled persons' organizations and welfare centers in the province to promote oral health and rehabilitation for disabled individuals, and has sponsored oral health care products.
Employee Jeong Hwan-seok was highly evaluated for his long-term diligent work at a workplace for disabled workers.

According to the 2018 Survey on Economic Activities of Disabled Persons, the average tenure of regular disabled workers is about 7 years and 9 months.
Since 2002, Employee Jeong has worked for more than 17 years at Ganaan Work Welfare Center, demonstrating job skills in the remanufactured cartridge process and contributing to improving product quality.
Chairman Choi Man-seok
Chairman Choi Man-seok was recognized for his efforts to improve welfare for disabled persons, including establishing a civil complaint counseling center for the disabled, operating an assistive device repair center, free meal activities, and promoting awareness education and cultural classes.
Gyeonggi Province plans to award these individuals along with 8 public officials and 45 civilians who have contributed to the improvement of disabled persons' human rights and welfare on Disabled Persons Day.
