[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) is announcing a call for applications for the Children and Youth Club Activity Support Project.

This call for applications is part of the 2020 Jungnang Innovation Education District project, and the application period is open until the 29th.

The recruitment targets are clubs composed of five or more children and youth residing in Jungnang-gu, including ▲ autonomous activity clubs such as culture, arts, and sports ▲ clubs linked with the local community ▲ school federation clubs. A total of 40 teams will be selected. However, each club must include at least one adult, such as a teacher or parent, and only clubs that conduct regular activities at least once a month are eligible to apply.

Selected clubs will receive differential support of up to 2 million KRW and will receive various support and management, including holding regular monthly meetings with a dedicated coordinator and sharing best practices for capacity building.

Additionally, clubs will have the opportunity to operate experience booths at the 2020 Innovation Education Expo and the Jungnang Youth Dream Festival scheduled for the second half of this year.

Applications can be submitted by preparing the required documents and visiting the Jungnang Innovation Education District Task Support Team office (☎439-9890~1) or by email (shinnak@citizen.seoul.kr). For more details, inquiries can be made to the Jungnang Innovation Education District Task Support Team.

Last year, 29 organizations were selected for the support project, including Neunaduri Peer Counseling Team, which listens to the concerns of marginalized friends; Woorimal Gakkumi, which corrects improper Korean language usage; and Inside Out, which examines the inner psychology of characters after watching movies or reading books.

Ryu Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, said, “I hope this will be an opportunity for children and youth to independently plan and operate club activities, foster a healthy youth club culture, and creatively explore their career paths.” He added, “Jungnang-gu will continue to create an educational environment where children’s dreams and careers can be realized.”

Jungnang-gu was designated as an Innovation Education District last year and is supporting innovation education projects with a total budget of about 1.5 billion KRW this year, receiving approximately 1 billion KRW in support from Seoul City and the Education Office. The district operates 20 projects reflecting its characteristics in line with the four basic directions of Seoul-type Innovation Education Districts, including school curriculum operation in cooperation with the community, support for community activities, support for children and youth autonomous activities, and operation of public-private-academic governance.
