[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] On the morning of the 14th at 10 a.m., Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon District, attended the ‘Drive Thru Eco-friendly Agricultural Products Package Sale Event’ held at the Nowon District Community Center public parking lot.
The district organized the ‘Eco-friendly Agricultural Products Package’ sale event to help farmers facing difficulties due to blocked sales channels for eco-friendly agricultural products for school meals caused by school opening delays amid COVID-19.
The sales method was a drive-thru using vehicles. On this day, Jeonbuk Wanju Gosan Nonghyup, Jeonnam Damyang Geumseong Nonghyup, and Jeonnam Haenam Insuyeongnong Cooperative participated. A total of 1,000 sets of agricultural product packages were sold at 10,000 KRW per set in cash.
There are three types of packages. Package A includes 1 kg of white rice, and 500 g each of barley, glutinous black rice, and glutinous rice. Package B includes green onions, fresh onions, chives, and zucchini. Package C includes potatoes, fresh onions, fresh shiitake mushrooms, and cucumbers.
The event is hosted by the Nowon Education Welfare Foundation and the Volunteer Center, and the agricultural product package sale will automatically end when the items are sold out.
Mayor Oh Seung-rok said, “Farmers are facing many difficulties due to the impact of COVID-19,” and added, “I hope residents actively participate in helping the farmers.”
