Kumoh National Institute of Technology to Conduct All Courses Online in First Semester

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongwook Park] Kumoh National Institute of Technology, located in Gumi, Gyeongbuk, announced on the 10th that all courses for the first semester of this year will be conducted through non-face-to-face remote classes due to the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).

Grades for the first semester will be given using an absolute evaluation system. Final exams will primarily be conducted through non-face-to-face assessments, but face-to-face evaluations will also be allowed. Counseling with academic advisors for student career planning and academic support will also be conducted remotely.

However, for laboratory, practical, and design courses, small team meetings of up to three times will be permitted after June.

The university plans to operate a Remote Lecture Support Team to assist with lectures, the Kumoh Call Center for academic schedule consultations, and the Kumoh Psychological Counseling Call Center for mental health counseling of its members in preparation for non-face-to-face classes.

Lee Sang-cheol, president of Kumoh National Institute of Technology, stated, "We decided on non-face-to-face classes for the first semester to guarantee learning rights and minimize confusion in the educational environment," adding, "We will utilize non-face-to-face classes as a new educational environment that forms the foundation of the Fourth Industrial Revolution."
