Uniqlo Releases Limited Edition Collection with Marimekko

[Asia Economy Reporter Yujin Cho] Global fashion brand Uniqlo is launching a Marimekko limited edition collection capturing the essence of Finnish summer.

This collection features clothing inspired by the endless greenery and dazzling sun of the Finnish summer, along with summer vacation items such as hats and tote bags. This is the third collaboration between Finnish design house Marimekko and Uniqlo, and since last season, kids and baby products have also been introduced.

The collection’s standout feature is the vibrant prints embodying Marimekko’s identity, incorporating not only stripes and dots but also various patterns like waves and petals. From lightweight outerwear such as the portable “Marimekko Pocketable Parka” to shirts and pants, eye-catching patterns are applied across women’s, kids’, and baby products, allowing for standout styling with just one item.

These pieces are comfortable to wear from the transitional season with large temperature differences to the hot summer. The collection includes dresses and shorts made from summer-symbolic materials such as linen blends and cotton poplin, which offer a soft touch and cool feel. Additionally, three designs of women’s espadrille shoes, a summer fashion item, are available. The collection also introduces the “Marimekko UV-CUT Paper Hat,” which protects the skin from UV rays, considering summer skin health.

The same patterns are applied to kids’ and baby products, enabling mothers and children to create matching family looks. Especially for babies, the collection offers a wide range of items, from the “Marimekko Crew Neck Bodysuit” for newborns to the “Marimekko Short Sleeve Dress” and “Marimekko Crop Leggings” for infants.
