[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Woo-kwon] Gimhae City, Gyeongnam Province, will use the city's cash expenditure budget, such as business promotion expenses and meal allowances, for 'corporate-type Zero Pay' to reduce the card fee burden on small business owners and micro self-employed people struggling due to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
Gimhae City announced that it signed a business agreement with NH Nonghyup Bank Gimhae Branch on the 9th for this purpose.
Corporate-type Zero Pay is an expanded system of the existing Zero Pay that allows companies and public institutions to use it. It is a QR code-based mobile simple payment system introduced to reduce the card fee burden on small business owners and self-employed people. When users make payments at affiliated stores using a mobile payment app on their phones, the payment amount is transferred from the account of the user's department to the affiliated store's account.
Affiliated stores can reduce the fee burden to about 0~1.2% (0% for annual sales under 800 million KRW) by using Zero Pay payments, and since the payment is directly transferred from the user's account to the seller's account, it is very advantageous for securing cash liquidity.
The city plans to conduct a pilot operation to pre-check inconveniences and accounting procedure difficulties, and then fully implement it from May.
As of the end of March, the number of Zero Pay affiliated stores in Gimhae City is 6,689, and the city plans to expand this to 10,000 stores this year through active promotion.
