Preparation for Land Compensation and Civil Complaints Ahead of Dongbuk Line Construction Connecting Wangsimni?Jegidong?Sanggye, Opened 25 Years Ago in Dongdaemun-gu
The Dongbuk Line urban railway project, passing through Jegi-dong Station in Dongdaemun-gu, will officially begin with the goal of opening in 2025.
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Yoo Deok-yeol) is operating a dedicated civil complaint desk to minimize inconvenience to residents during the construction period, such as land compensation, as the Dongbuk Line urban railway project officially begins with the goal of opening in 2025.
With the approval and announcement of the Dongbuk Line urban railway implementation plan, the district is proceeding with administrative procedures such as land compensation and traffic flow measures review with Seoul City to promote the construction.
The Dongbuk Line urban railway is a 13.4 km route starting from Wangsimni Station in Seongdong-gu, passing through Jegi-dong Station and Korea University Station in Dongdaemun-gu, and extending to Sanggye Station in Nowon-gu. It is being promoted to allow transfers at 7 stations on 8 existing subway lines, including Jegi-dong Station (Line 1) and Korea University Station (Line 6).
During the 60-month construction period, 16 stations will be built, and the total project cost is expected to be 1.5963 trillion KRW.
Yoo Deok-yeol, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, expressed expectations for the Dongbuk Line urban railway, saying, "The Dongbuk Line, following the existing Uisinseol Line, will directly connect Dongdaemun-gu and northern Seoul, as well as establish a transportation network connecting east-west and north-south through transfers with existing lines, becoming a fast and convenient means of transportation for residents."
