US Broadway Theater Closure Extended Until June 7

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Byung-hee] Major foreign media including AP reported on the 10th (local time) that Broadway theaters in New York, USA, will extend the theater closure period due to the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) until June 7.

Broadway theaters initially planned a one-month closure and closed the theaters on the 12th of last month. However, the global spread of COVID-19 remains severe.

Accordingly, the 'Broadway League,' representing Broadway theater owners and producers, announced the extension of the closure period in an online statement on the 8th.

In the statement, the Broadway League said, "This unexpected intermission will eventually end, and when it does, we will gather again in the lobby, sit close together on the velvet seats, laugh and cry together, and encourage each other," expressing their hope to resume performances soon.
