Gwanak-gu Operates Safe Accommodations with Up to 80% Discount for Families of Overseas Arrivals

Preventing COVID-19 Infection Among Overseas Entrants' Families and Blocking Community Spread... Up to 80% Discount on Air Tickets and Resident Registration Certificates from the 10th

[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) will operate a ‘Safe Accommodation’ starting from the 10th to ensure that families of overseas arrivals can stay without worrying about COVID-19 infection.

This initiative aims to prevent secondary infections that may occur when overseas arrivals and their families live together in one household, following the mandatory 14-day self-quarantine for all overseas arrivals starting from the 1st.

Arrivals will stay alone at home to fulfill self-quarantine, while their families can stay at lodging facilities (such as hotels) at an affordable price.

Additionally, since it is the family members, not the arrivals themselves, who stay at the lodging facilities, concerns and burdens about confirmed cases are reduced.

On the 9th, Gwanak-gu signed agreements with six lodging facilities in the area and will officially begin operating the ‘Safe Accommodation’ from the 10th.

The available accommodations are ▲ CS Premier Hotel Seoul (Miseong-dong, Gwanak-gu) ▲ Seoul National University Hoam Faculty House (Nakseongdae-dong, Gwanak-gu) ▲ Sheraton Seoul D Cube City Hotel (Sindorim-dong, Guro-gu) ▲ Lotte City Hotel Guro (Guro-dong, Guro-gu) ▲ Hotel Bernoulli (Oryu-dong, Guro-gu) ▲ Cocomo Hotel (Guro-dong, Guro-gu). Discounts range from 30% up to 80% based on the publicly announced property value.

Residents wishing to use the service must present proof of overseas arrival, such as airline tickets and resident registration certificates, to the lodging facilities. Detailed information including room rates can be found on the Gwanak-gu Office website or at the participating lodging facilities. Reservations should be made individually with the respective hotels.

Mayor Park Jun-hee stated, “Our district is making every effort to fundamentally block the community spread of COVID-19 imported from overseas by providing special transportation support and operating safe accommodations for overseas arrivals. We thank the lodging facility staff who are participating in operating the safe accommodations for the safety of the community, and we will thoroughly disinfect inside and outside the accommodations as well as the surrounding areas.”
