Gangnam-gu Reports Female COVID-19 Patient Who Hid Working at Entertainment Establishment

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jeong Soon-gyun) filed a complaint with the Gangnam Police Station on the 9th against a female confirmed COVID-19 patient (36, Nonhyeon-dong) for violating the "Infectious Disease Prevention and Control Act" after she gave false statements during an epidemiological investigation.

The confirmed patient, who tested positive on the 2nd, falsely stated during the epidemiological investigation by the Gangnam-gu Public Health Center that she stayed at home, hiding the fact that she had worked at a local entertainment establishment from 8 PM on the 27th of last month to 4 AM on the 28th.

Gangnam-gu, through a detailed epidemiological investigation with Seoul City, identified 116 people who had contact with the confirmed patient at the entertainment venue and placed all of them under a two-week self-quarantine order.

Additionally, among them, 92 individuals underwent specimen testing, all of whom tested negative, and testing for the remaining 24 contacts is expected to be completed soon.

At the same time, the district also filed complaints against three confirmed patients who left their self-quarantine without permission during the quarantine period on the same day for violating the Infectious Disease Prevention Act. Failure to comply with self-quarantine rules can result in imprisonment of up to one year or a fine of up to 10 million KRW.

Jeong Soon-gyun, Mayor of Gangnam-gu, stated, “We urge all self-quarantined individuals to strictly follow quarantine rules without letting their guard down until the end,” and added, “We will continue to apply a zero-tolerance policy and take strong legal actions against confirmed patients who leave quarantine without permission or provide false statements during epidemiological investigations.”
