[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Sohn Hak-kyu, the Standing Election Committee Chairman of the Minsaeng Party, targeted the Democratic Party of Korea and the United Future Party on the 9th, stating, "Currently, the first and second parties guarantee a sole majority, but that will not happen, nor should it."

After a joint support rally in Cheongju City that day, Sohn told reporters, "The mixed-member proportional representation system came from the idea that if the two major parties continue their combative politics, both the economy and people's livelihoods will be ruined," and added, "Third, fourth, and fifth parties must emerge and move toward coalition politics."

Sohn emphasized, "The decisive factor in this election will be the accurate judgment of our people, who not only refuse to give their votes to the first and second parties but also refuse to vote for parties that only field proportional candidates without running district candidates, such as proportional satellite parties."

Sohn stated, "Although current opinion polls show low support for the Minsaeng Party, the actual grassroots sentiment is not like that," and added, "Support for the Minsaeng Party is quite high. There will be many changes during the blackout period."

Sohn said, "I believe that the people will put an end to the combative politics of the two major parties and vote in a way that realizes the purpose of the mixed-member proportional representation system, which dreams of coalition politics in a multi-party system."
