Increasing Familiarity with 'Eojjaesskka' and 'Guraje' to Encourage Election Participation

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Seo Young-seo] Kim Won-i, the Democratic Party of Korea candidate for Mokpo City National Assembly, is attracting attention with unique election campaigns using voter-friendly SNS in various ways.
On the 9th, according to Kim Won-i's Bomnal Camp, they are actively conducting election campaigns using SNS that satisfy the right of voters to know and promote non-face-to-face due to COVID-19.
Notably, they are targeting voters' preferences by introducing unique emoticons. The emoticons, named 'Woni(원i)Ticon,' were created in 15 different forms combining various expressions and phrases of candidate Kim Won-i.
They include election slogans such as 'A New Mokpo is Coming,' 'Woni Thumbs Up,' and 'The Best,' as well as everyday greetings like 'Hello,' 'Nice to meet you,' and 'Thank you.'
Additionally, emoticons encouraging overcoming COVID-19, such as 'Cheer up' and 'Let's wash hands well,' and those using Mokpo dialect expressions like 'Ome,' 'Eujjaeyasskka,' and 'Guraje' increase familiarity.
'WoniTicon' can be used on Telegram and as images on various SNS platforms such as KakaoTalk, Facebook, and Band.
‘Card news,’ which summarizes major issues with images and brief texts, is also a useful promotional tool. The card news produced by Kim Won-i's camp from the Democratic Party primary to the official election campaign amounts to about 300 types.
The card news consists of introductions of people, policy promotions, and announcements of major schedules such as rallies, and is spread through Facebook and KakaoTalk channels.
Kim Won-i's emoticons and card news are created by designers Shin Su-jeong and Chu Da-hyun. Chief designer Shin Su-jeong said, “We created WoniTicon to increase voters' familiarity and interest in candidate Kim Won-i,” adding, “We will strive to inform voters about the candidate and policies in various ways to increase voter participation.”
In addition, candidate Kim Won-i is gaining popularity with lively election campaigns such as live broadcasts on Facebook.
Moreover, they are actively using YouTube for close-life content that shows the election campaign process without filtering.
