Full Closure of Yangjaecheon Gangnam-gu to Seocho-gu Section This Weekend

This Week and Next Week Are the Critical Turning Points for COVID-19 Spread Prevention, Join the Government's High-Intensity Social Distancing Measures

Full Closure of Yangjaecheon Gangnam-gu to Seocho-gu Section This Weekend

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Yangjaecheon will be completely closed again this weekend.

Seocho District Mayor Joeunhee and Gangnam District Mayor Jeong Sung-gyun decided on the morning of the 9th through consultation to close the entire 8.55km stretch of Yangjaecheon within Seocho and Gangnam districts from 9 a.m. on the 11th until midnight (24:00) on the 12th.

This decision is a measure reflecting the results of gathering residents' opinions in active support of the government's high-intensity extension of 'social distancing' to prevent the spread of COVID-19, following the first full closure last weekend.

Gangnam District conducted a survey of 684 residents near Yangjaecheon regarding the control of Yangjaecheon this Saturday and Sunday. The results showed that 66% favored a full closure including the walking paths and bicycle lanes along Yangjaecheon, which is about twice the 34% who preferred a ONE-WAY (one-way traffic) system.

The sections to be fully closed this weekend include the entire 8.55km stretch of Yangjaecheon (Gangnam-gu Tancheon 2-gyo to Seocho-gu Seocho Hoban Summit), as well as a 1.9km section of Yeoui Stream in Seocho-gu (Maehyeon Bridge to in front of Yangjae-dong Flower Wholesale Market), and a 2.12km section of Banpo Stream in Seocho-gu (Dongjak Station to Exit 5 of Gangnam Express Bus Terminal).
