[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Sharon] Changwon City, Gyeongnam Province, announced on the 9th that it signed a business agreement at the Gyeongnam Provincial Government Office to promote the country's first hydrogen liquefaction project.
About 20 officials attended the event, including Changwon Mayor Heo Seong-mu, Gyeongnam Governor Kim Kyung-soo, Doosan Heavy Industries CEO Jeong Yeon-in, Korea Industrial Complex Corporation Gyeongnam Regional Headquarters Director Lee Dong-chan, and Changwon Industry Promotion Agency Director Baek Jeong-han.
Last August, Changwon City proposed the "Hydrogen Liquefaction Demonstration Plant Construction Project" for the "Industrial Complex Environment Improvement Fund Project," a public offering project by the Korea Industrial Complex Corporation, and was finally selected as the lead project operator on March 24 of this year.
This project has a total budget of 98 billion KRW. Doosan Heavy Industries and the Changwon Industry Promotion Agency jointly established an SPC (Special Purpose Company) to implement the project, plan to build a hydrogen liquefaction demonstration plant, and produce 5 tons of liquefied hydrogen per day through reforming using city gas.
Mayor Heo Seong-mu said, "Changwon City is conducting the country's first hydrogen liquefaction demonstration plant construction project to enable efficient liquefied hydrogen supply for entering the hydrogen society, and we have signed this business agreement to promote detailed project implementation." He added, "We will enhance the status of 'Hydrogen Industry Special City Changwon' by securing global competitiveness in the future growth engine hydrogen energy sector."
