[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Yeon-ju] It has been three years since actress the late Kim Young-ae passed away after battling pancreatic cancer.

Kim Young-ae died on April 9, 2017, due to complications from pancreatic cancer.

The late actress debuted as part of MBC's 3rd public recruitment talent group in 1971 and had an active career spanning 37 years, appearing in over 100 dramas and more than 70 films.

Despite being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2012, Kim Young-ae continued her acting career while undergoing treatment.

It was reported that during the filming of the MBC drama "The Moon Embracing the Sun," she was battling the illness but kept it a secret and pushed through with filming, which became a topic of public interest.

After the drama ended, Kim Young-ae underwent a major surgery lasting nine hours but continued to work steadily afterward. She appeared in dramas such as "Doctors," "The Witch's Diner," "The Gentlemen of Wolgyesu Tailor Shop," "Kill Me, Heal Me," and "Birth of a Beauty," and received high praise for her outstanding performances in films including "Pandora," "Cart," and "The Attorney."

However, during the filming of KBS 2TV drama "The Gentlemen of Wolgyesu Tailor Shop," which ended on February 26, 2017, her health deteriorated again. She was hospitalized before the final episode and took a rest, but ultimately passed away at the age of 66.
