A Woman in Her 20s Found Dead While Self-Isolating After Entering from Austria (Update)

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] A woman in her 20s who was self-quarantining at her home in Incheon after arriving from Austria was found dead. The police are investigating on the assumption that she took her own life, as a suicide note was found.

According to Incheon Nonhyeon Police Station on the 9th, at around 10:30 a.m. the previous day, A (22, female) was found dead in an apartment in Nonhyeon-dong, Namdong-gu, Incheon by her mother, who reported it to the police.

It was investigated that A entered through Incheon International Airport from Austria on the 4th and had been self-quarantining at home since the 5th in accordance with the government’s overseas arrivals self-quarantine policy.

The police are investigating the exact cause of death, believing that A made an extreme choice based on the suicide note found at the scene.

A police official stated, "We are investigating whether there is a connection between the self-quarantine period and the extreme choice," and added, "We will not request an autopsy of A’s body."
