Dongshin University, All Efforts to Improve Class Quality in Preparation for Prolonged COVID-19 Pandemic

Video Lecture Production Method Training and Expansion of Studio Installation

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Dongshin University is putting all its efforts into improving the quality of classes in preparation for the possibility of prolonged non-face-to-face classes due to the impact of COVID-19.

According to Dongshin University e-Learning Center (Director Professor Lee Seongju) on the 9th, all professors were trained on how to use the learning management system and content uploading and sharing system, as well as how to create video lectures using ‘DocZoom’ in preparation for non-face-to-face classes.

The existing two self-studios were supplemented by converting study rooms to add two more, operating a total of four studios.

They secured 300 webcams and lend them to professors who cannot use the studios due to full reservations, ensuring that video-recorded lectures proceed without disruption.

To minimize inconvenience for students, each college operates a non-face-to-face class support call center and a 24-hour online bulletin board for real-time complaint consultations.

Some professors conduct interactive classes with students using real-time online video conferencing (Zoom) systems, YouTube, and KakaoTV.

In the future, an online space will be created for students and professors to share ‘non-face-to-face learning know-how’ and ‘non-face-to-face class know-how,’ and effective online learning methods will be made into videos and distributed to students.

President Choi Il said, “Until face-to-face classes are conducted, we will do our best to ensure remote lectures at a level that satisfies students by fully utilizing online learning platforms.”
