[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Incheon City is conducting intensive inspections on 1,078 clubs and entertainment bars to ensure compliance with quarantine rules, in collaboration with the police and consumer monitors, to prevent mass infections of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
Since the operation restriction order for high-risk facilities was issued on the 22nd of last month, joint inspections with related agencies have been carried out on clubs and entertainment bars.
It has been confirmed that 30 out of 32 club-type establishments (94%) and 688 out of 1,046 entertainment bars (66%) voluntarily suspended operations following the operation restriction order.
For the remaining establishments still in operation, frontline district and county health departments are inspecting compliance with quarantine rules at least twice a week.
The city has issued administrative guidance to a cumulative total of 458 establishments that failed to comply with quarantine rules, such as inadequate social distancing (1?2 meters) between users and insufficient enforcement of mask-wearing among users.
Additionally, fever check thermometers and hand sanitizers have been provided to club-type establishments, which are high-risk COVID-19 facilities, and hand sanitizers have been distributed to entertainment bars, with plans underway to supply fever check thermometers as well.
Park Gyuwung, Director of Health and Sports Bureau of Incheon City, said, "Club-type entertainment bars where dancing occurs have a high risk of mass infection due to close contact among customers because of the nature of their business," adding, "We will focus on managing these establishments intensively for the next two weeks and do our best to prevent the spread of COVID-19."
