[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] KT has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for 'Webtoon Content and Marketing Cooperation' with WM Entertainment to strengthen the content of its webtoon platform, KTOON.
According to KT on the 9th, through this MOU, KT plans to produce original and fresh webtoon content linked with idols in collaboration with WM Entertainment, an entertainment agency representing popular idol groups such as Oh My Girl, B1A4, and ONF.
First, 'SomeToon X Oh My Girl,' which contains the real stories of each member of the girl group Oh My Girl, will be exclusively released on KTOON starting with a prologue on April 14, followed by one episode every week. SomeToon is a representative work on KTOON by popular webtoon artist Mohitto Mohikan, who has serialized over 600 episodes, and has a strong fan base by composing stories based on readers' stories.
KT plans to deliver a fresh enjoyment to readers by capturing episodes full of excitement suitable for spring in SomeToon with Oh My Girl. In particular, the serialization will begin ahead of Oh My Girl's comeback scheduled for the end of April, raising fans' expectations.
To commemorate the webtoon serialization, an event will be held where viewers who watch the prologue of SomeToon X Oh My Girl on KTOON and leave comments will be entered into a draw to receive gifts. Detailed information can be found on the KTOON homepage starting from the 14th. Kim Hoon-bae, Executive Director of KT's Customer Division New Business Headquarters, said, "We promoted this content cooperation to offer readers the unique pleasure of meeting the stories of their favorite idols within webtoons," and added, "Based on KT's content capabilities, we will continue to present warm content that revitalizes customers who are welcoming spring at home by refraining from going out."
