[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Woo-kwon] Kim Kyung-soo, Governor of Gyeongnam Province, and Park Jong-hoon, Superintendent of Gyeongnam Office of Education, met and announced on the 9th that they signed a learning support agreement to ensure the normal operation of the curriculum at schools following the online opening of elementary, middle, high, and special schools for the 2020 academic year.


At this agreement ceremony, the provincial government and the Office of Education agreed to cooperate in normalizing and stably operating the curriculum at schools through joint response to the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) and support for remote learning. They also agreed to mutually cooperate in joint support for job projects for after-school instructors, support for the distribution of smart devices to students for smooth remote classes, and joint response and support for remote learning regarding the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.


Regarding the online learning assistant project, Governor Kim Kyung-soo proposed a support plan linked to public job projects utilizing after-school instructors and unemployed youth for vulnerable students at the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters meeting on the 2nd.


At the meeting, Governor Kim said, "Gyeongnam Province will make continuous efforts together with the Gyeongnam Office of Education to prevent any learning gaps caused by the online school opening."


Superintendent Park also anticipated, "Preparing for the unprecedented online school opening and simultaneously creating social jobs will become another successful case of crisis overcoming through cooperation between local governments."
