Gyeonggi Economic Science Institute Launches 'Economic Crisis Response Task Force'

[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] The Gyeonggi-do Economic Science Promotion Agency is operating an 'Economic Crisis Response Team' to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the province struggling due to the spread of COVID-19, receiving positive responses.

The response team first provides various startup information in real-time through the Gyeonggi Startup Platform (www.gsp.or.kr), including startup, investment and funding, infrastructure, events and education, and support projects.

When companies register their information on the platform, they can easily have one-on-one consultations with investors through online matching without the need to visit in person to attract investment.

Additionally, the team offers lists of experts in fields such as intellectual property rights, funding and investment, accounting and taxation, human resources and labor, marketing and market development, as well as technology sectors including electrical and electronics, machinery and materials, ICT, and the 4th Industrial Revolution, supporting advisory consultations with desired experts.

Furthermore, to supplement the reduced in-person group education due to the spread of COVID-19, free online education is provided for employees of SMEs.

The education includes ▲Basic job skills (human resources, marketing, humanities, etc.) ▲Advanced job skills (organizational management, tax knowledge, communication methods, etc.) ▲Common essential competencies (sexual harassment prevention education, disability awareness improvement, information security, etc.) ▲and the 4th Industrial Revolution.

The education has been ongoing since last month and will continue throughout the year. Applications are open to SME employees and one-person startups, and can be made through the GBSA Academy website (www.gbedu.or.kr).

The response team also operates a 'Webinar for Global Market Entry' for promising export SMEs dreaming of entering the global e-commerce market.

On the 10th, a webinar by 'Amazon,' the world's largest e-commerce company, will be held.

Kim Ki-jun, Director of Gyeonggi Economic Science, emphasized, "To overcome the emergency economic situation caused by COVID-19, we are actively expanding non-face-to-face support projects for companies and focusing on discovering competitive support projects that overcome the limitations of non-face-to-face methods."
