[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] The National Balanced Development Committee announced on the 8th that it held the 22nd plenary session, chaired by Chairman Kim Sayul for the first time since his inauguration, at the Seoul office.
On this day, 12 ex officio members including Minister Lee Jung-ok of the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, and 16 appointed members attended the plenary session.
At the meeting, the following were approved: ▲This year's national balanced development implementation plan ▲Partial amendment plan for the relocation plans of three public institutions including the Korea Food Research Institute ▲Amendment plan for the pilot project agreement of the regional development investment agreement.
Additionally, reports were made on ▲The basic plan for the local government-university cooperation-based regional innovation project ▲This year's national innovation convergence complex project promotion plan.
This year's national balanced development implementation plan is the third-year execution plan of the "4th National Balanced Development Five-Year Plan."
It consists of the "sectoral implementation plans" established by the heads of 20 central ministries and the "city/province development plans" established by the heads of 17 cities and provinces.
The partial amendment plan for the relocation plans of three public institutions including the Korea Food Research Institute includes the purchase of additional land for the Korea Food Research Institute using the proceeds from the sale of previous real estate (increased amount).
It also includes provisions such as the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation covering relocation costs with internal reserves instead of selling the previous real estate and donating it.
The amendment plan for the pilot project agreement of the regional development investment agreement includes building the Haengbok Nuri Center as a complex with the Urban Regeneration Harmony Center in Haengbok Forest, Uiseong-gun, Gyeongbuk.
Regarding the win-win of urban and rural areas in Sejong Special Self-Governing City, it also includes cost reduction by changing the site of the local food direct store.
The local government-university cooperation-based regional innovation project involves local governments, universities, and various regional innovation institutions building and supporting a platform.
Preliminary application submissions for the project will close on the 27th, and project plan submissions will close on June 5th. The final evaluation results are scheduled to be announced in July.
This year's national innovation convergence complex project promotion plan includes focused support for new technology development and fostering related industries. This is to develop the national innovation convergence complex as a new growth hub for the region.
To this end, this year's national budget is expected to be 64.2 billion KRW, an increase of 26.1% compared to the previous year.
Chairman Kim said, "We will continue the committee's efforts and considerations to produce tangible results of balanced development policies that the public can feel."
