Deputy Minister of Science and ICT Meets Daegu and Gyeongbuk ICT Entrepreneurs to Hear Their Challenges

[Asia Economy Reporter Seulgina Jo] On the 8th, the Ministry of Science and ICT announced that Vice Minister Jang Seok-young met with ICT entrepreneurs in the Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions, which are struggling due to the impact of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), to listen to their difficulties and prepare government-level support measures.


At the meeting held at the Gumi Electronics and Information Technology Institute, Vice Minister Jang said, "I feel regret and a heavy sense of responsibility regarding the difficulties faced by the ICT industry in Daegu and Gyeongbuk, which has played a pivotal role in the development of Korea's ICT industry," and added, "We will seek not only short-term support but also mid- to long-term capacity-building plans so that local companies can overcome this difficult period well and lead the ICT-centered Fourth Industrial Revolution."


Before the meeting, Vice Minister Jang visited the Gyeongbuk Regional Post Office and Daegu Radio Management Office to check the status of election mail communication, and also encouraged the frontline workers in the Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions by delivering masks (filter-embedded cloth masks) purchased with donations collected by Ministry of Science and ICT employees to overcome COVID-19.
