Jeonnam Province Ranks 'No.1 Nationwide' for 11 Consecutive Months in Resident Life Satisfaction Survey

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam Province has ranked first nationwide for 11 consecutive months in the resident life satisfaction survey.

According to Jeonnam Province on the 8th, in the March resident life satisfaction survey of 17 metropolitan cities and provinces nationwide conducted by the public opinion research specialist Realmeter, satisfaction rose by 0.8 percentage points from the February survey to 69.2%. Jeju City followed with 63.9%, and Gyeonggi Province with 63.1%.

The average resident life satisfaction across all 17 cities and provinces was 56.4%, up 1.5 percentage points from 54.9% in February.

In particular, Jeonnam Province has maintained first place continuously since May last year when it first ranked first with 62.9%.

Jeonnam Province analyzes that the high resident life satisfaction is due to Governor Kim Young-rok’s prompt and diverse support measures to alleviate difficulties faced by vulnerable groups, rural farming and fishing villages, and businesses struggling due to COVID-19.

Notably, the introduction of the farmers and fishermen’s public interest allowance to compensate for the public value of rural areas, securing the nation’s first budget for agricultural product price and supply stabilization projects, expanding customized support for the elderly, disabled, and low-income groups, increasing startup and management stabilization funds for small business owners, and implementing Zero Pay in Jeonnam were also remarkable initiatives that enhanced tangible happiness policies.

Additionally, various policies such as the New Millennium Talent Development Project, improvement of cultural welfare services in rural farming and fishing villages, and expansion of senior job projects attracted attention.

Meanwhile, Governor Kim Young-rok recorded a positive evaluation of 69.7% in the March nationwide 17 metropolitan city and province governors’ job performance survey, up 1.4 percentage points from the February survey, securing first place for 11 consecutive months. Except for a brief second place in the April survey last year, he has continuously maintained first place since the launch of the 7th local government administration.
