Damyang-gun Fully Distributes 'Jeonnam-type Public Interest Allowance for Farmers and Fishermen'

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Damyang-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Choi Hyung-sik) announced on the 8th that it will fully pay the 'Jeonnam-type Public Interest Allowance for Farmers and Fishermen' by the end of this month to support farmers, fishermen, and local small business owners who are struggling due to COVID-19.

The public interest allowance for farmers and fishermen, which is set to be implemented for the first time to improve the quality of life of farmers and fishermen and enhance the public functions of rural areas, was originally planned to be paid 300,000 KRW each in the first and second half of the year. However, to stimulate the local economy depressed by the COVID-19 impact, it was decided to pay the full amount in the first half.

The county has been accepting applications since January, selected recipients last month, and received objections from those excluded. After reviewing the objections, the county plans to pay about 4.6 billion KRW to 7,688 households on the 21st following the deliberation of the County Farmers and Fishermen Public Interest Allowance Committee.

The public interest allowance for farmers and fishermen will be paid entirely in Damyang Love Gift Certificates to revitalize the commercial districts such as small business stores, alley markets, and traditional markets, which are major franchise points in the region.

The NH Nonghyup, a financial institution contracted as the sales agency for Damyang Love Gift Certificates, will distribute them, and the exact distribution schedule will be announced through the town and township offices and local Nonghyup branches after the recipients are confirmed.
