Actors have stepped up to support the cultural sector struggling due to the impact of COVID-19 (Novel Coronavirus Infection).

News Culture is conducting a relay support campaign to overcome and prevent COVID-19.

This campaign was planned with the intention of regaining our precious daily lives through strict adherence to personal preventive measures and social distancing.

COVID-19, which first emerged in Wuhan, China in December last year and has since spread worldwide, has had a significant impact. According to the announcement by the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency on the 8th, the number of confirmed cases in Korea has reached 10,384, with over 200 deaths. Amid this situation, actors are raising awareness about prevention methods and delivering messages of overcoming the crisis to offer support.

Actors Park Youngsoo and Kim Dobin from the play Save the Earth, who took the lead as the first participants, said, "This is a time to appreciate the value of everyday life, but let’s all overcome this difficult period together."

Park Youngsoo encouraged, "Everyone is having a hard time, but it is also important to view the crisis positively."

He added, "Save the Earth aims to continue performances safely until May 30. I hope the COVID-19 situation will be resolved so we can meet many audiences."

Kim Dobin said, "It must be difficult to watch performances while wearing masks. I also always wear a mask when watching shows," and urged, "Please use hand sanitizer and make sure to wash your hands with soap."

Baek Hyung-hoon from the musical Final Statement took over as the second participant, saying, "I am touched by the audience who come to watch the performance wearing masks," and added, "I am doing my best with the thought that today or tomorrow might be the last performance."

He continued, "Many people are struggling due to the spread of COVID-19. If we follow the preventive behavioral guidelines well, it greatly helps reduce the spread and improve this situation."

Baek Hyung-hoon emphasized wearing masks and asked people to refrain from touching their eyes and nose with unwashed hands.

He also stressed washing hands for more than 30 seconds and demonstrated handwashing while singing the number "Goodbye My Love" from Final Statement.

Choi Mincheol and Lee Changyong, currently performing in the musical Swag Age: Shout Joseon!, took the baton as the third participants.

Lee Changyong said, "Thank you for watching many exciting original musicals," and added, "Although the situation is not easy, please support us. We gain strength and breathe from the audience’s encouragement," urging, "For prevention, you must wash your hands thoroughly for more than 30 seconds."

Choi Mincheol said, "Many of you must be worried because of COVID-19, but if you wash your hands well and wear masks properly, I believe better days will come."

Additionally, a relay support video featuring Park Kyuwon, Lee Haejun, Jung Wookjin, Yoo Sungjae, Jung Min, and Lim Byunggeun from the musical Rachmaninoff, as well as Moon Hyewon, Yoonbi, and Jung Inseong from the musical All Eyes On Me, will be released sequentially this week. Other top actors are also expected to participate in the relay campaign.

The relay support campaign videos for overcoming and preventing COVID-19 can be viewed on the News Culture YouTube channel NCTV.
